The Good Morning Britain presenter's latest column for MailOnline has sent shockwaves through social media.

Piers took to Twitter to share the new rant, claiming Kanye West and the rest of the rap industry should be blamed for white women "singing n***a".

The argumentative host cited Kim Kardashian's husband's collaboration with Jamie Foxx, Gold Digger, as his first example.

He explained that the song hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the USA for ten weeks, before going on to sell over three million copies in the States alone.

Piers went on to explain that on Tuesday, an Instagram story video was posted showing female members of Alpha Phi Sorority at the University of New Hampshire singing and dancing to the song.

In the clip, they used the word.

The video was shared on the Facebook page All Eyes of UNH, which is run by University members who "have an intent to expose injustices".

The post read: "A member of Alpha Phi Sorority put up this video of girls singing along to Gold Digger by Kanye West on her Instagram story. The girls then sing the N-word without thinking of the implications.

"This is a showcase of ignorance and that the Panhellenic Council should do better in combatting racism. The first step is addressing wilful ignorance.'

The post ended with the hashtag "#RacistUNH".

Piers noted that within mere hours the post went viral with the sorority sisters being branded racist.

However, Piers has branded this "utter nonsense".

He can't understand how it is racist to sing along to a song that was No1 in America for ten weeks, and even challenged if the N-word is inherently racist.

Piers also noted that he understands that the word n****r is racist, but claims there is disagreement whether n**** is racist or offensive.

He said: "Gwyneth Paltrow ran foul of this confusion when she tweeted "N****s in Paris for real" after attending a concert in Paris given by Jay-Z and Kanye West, which ended with the MCs playing their hit song N****s in Paris over and over as the show finished.

"If you Google that song, many of the entries have the title censored as N****s in Paris, while many others spell out N*****s in Paris.

According to Piers, nobody is too sure if it's actually offensive to spell out the word n****s or not.

He went on to say he doesn't believe the women in the Alpha Phi Sorority gave a moment's thought when Gold Digger began playing.

Piers said the women were "young, free and partying", and it just "seemed like any other very popular rap song".

He claimed: "Rap music isn't sold or marketed exclusively to white people. Superstars like Kanye West target and exploit white audiences for their music just as enthusiastically as they target and exploit black audiences.

"So how can they, or anybody else for that matter, complain if a white person sings the very words they have written in No1 hit song?"

Piers signed off by saying there is no difference between either spelling of the word, claiming they both sound exactly the same and therefore are open to permanent confusion about the capacity to which they can offend.

He added: "But if rappers like Kanye West insist on using it, and writing songs with the word in either form, then it is absolutely predictable and understandable that their fans will sing the songs just as they hear them – regardless of the colour of their skin.

"These Alpha Phi Sorority sisters did nothing wrong.

"If you want someone to blame, then blame Kanye West."
