There’s nothing worse than your favorite show getting canceled.
Fox has renewed a whole host of television programs ahead of its 2025-2026 season, but “9-1-1: Lone Star” will not be returning in the fall. The “9-1-1” spinoff came to an end in February after five seasons.

Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy told Variety in October 2024 that the show was canceled for financial reasons.
“Sadly, we all love ‘Lone Star,’ but the financials just didn’t work,” Murphy said. “It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. And we had a long run of it.”
Rob Lowe, who starred as Owen Strand in the procedural drama, said that the “9-1-1: Lone Star” team wanted the final season to “really show everybody what is still possible in network television.”
“We wanted to go out making our case for the value of shows like that, and I think we did a really good job,” he said. “The stories that we were able to tell on a weekly basis in terms of the scope and scale — that’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of.”
Fox also canceled “Rescue HI-Surf” after only one season. Several other shows have yet to be renewed.
