Maryland and Johns Hopkins, seeded sixth and eigth in the women's lacrosse NCAA Tournament, respectively, each won their first round games and will advance to the next round of the tournament.
Maryland defeated Fairfield 16-7 in College Park. Junior midfielder Kori Edmundson scored the first goal of the tournament and finished with five points.
The Terps are set to host Penn in the second round of the tournament on Sunday afternoon at noon.
Johns Hopkins defeated Liberty 21-11 at Homewood Field in Baltimore on Friday evening.
Ava Angello and Ashley Mackin, the team's two highest scoring players throughout the 2025 season, scored six goals each. They combined for 16 points.
Hopkins will host the winner of Princeton and UMass on Sunday at 1 pm at Homewood Field.
