Arch Coal Honors 10 Outstanding Wyoming Classroom Teachers

ST. LOUIS, June 8, 2018 – Arch Coal, Inc. recently named 10 outstanding Wyoming classroom teachers as recipients of the prestigious Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award. It is Wyoming's longest-running, privately sponsored teacher recognition program, now in its 17th year, and Arch's signature community outreach program.

The announcement was made by John W. Eaves, Arch Coal's chief executive officer. Each award recipient was honored at a special assembly held in front of students and faculty at his or her individual school. In addition, each teacher was presented with a personal cash award and a distinctive trophy to display in recognition of their achievement.

The 2018 Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award recipients are:

Evan Randall Bock Rock River School Rock River
Colten A. Brantz Big Horn High School Big Horn
Jeny Gardner Lovell High School Lovell
Cristin Marie Green Hobbs Elementary School Cheyenne
Stephine Corrine Jolivet Summit Elementary School Casper
Katie Ann McCue Eastside Elementary School Cody
Julius Drew Peregoy Shoshoni Elementary School Shoshoni
Troy Reichert Guernsey-Sunrise Public School Guernsey
Joshua Spaugh Sanders Lovell High School Lovell
Aimee P. Shreve Could Peak Elementary School Buffalo

"We are honored to recognize this group of excellent teachers," said Eaves. "Year after year, I am impressed with the passion teachers have for their profession and the efforts they put forth in the classroom daily to improve the lives of their students. Outstanding student achievement begins with excellent classroom teaching and these 10 individuals represent the many dedicated educators across Wyoming who are shaping tomorrow's leaders. We congratulate them on their efforts to ensure every student reaches his or her full potential and salute them for this well-deserved recognition."

Selecting 10 individuals to receive an Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award is a multi-step process. The public nominates teachers for the annual award, and applicants must complete a rigorous application, which includes essays on teaching as a profession and teaching philosophy, a section on educational development and professional achievement, and three letters of recommendation. A blue-ribbon panel of past award recipients then selects the top 10 from among all those applying.

Arch Coal has a long history of supporting educational and community causes in Wyoming. It also supports a teacher recognition program in West Virginia.
